Dominion - intrigue is another rung in the Dominion universe. As in the original points, containing money and curse cards. In addition, we find in the box and 25 action cards decks. This makes the game playable without the Dominion. The basic rules of the game are similar to Dominion, which was already reviewed on this site. Dominion therefore not yet know who should first review this article, as there is just the new features go.
As the name "intrigue" suggests, the game is designed much more on interaction. This makes it the most negative impact on the players. It should be broken, especially ingrained strategies to make the players before always new challenges. Thus, for example, allows the "trickster" a map of the player against an equivalent card swap, so bring the decks built with a lot of planning by the players themselves. It is no longer necessary for the optimization of their own decks, but also on the disturbance of the players and the response to their attacks.
Another important innovation are cards with dual function. For example, does the "harem" as 2 Money in the game and brings the end of the game in addition even points. The "aristocrats" are also 2 points at the end of the game, but also serve as an action card. Even so that new strategies are feasible. It is no longer absolutely necessary only money and action cards to buy and only late in the game to go to points cards, since one of these cards by early victory points to bring their own deck.
The versatility of the action cards has been extended. There are now many cards that allow different actions depending on the situation. The "henchman" for example, allows the selection of two actions from the four variants "map", "action", "buy" and "an allowance". Thus, it is now possible to plot much more agile to build decks that can cope with the new requirements depending on the situation and allow other possibilities.
However, the new cards also bring more complexity. On most maps as much text and it requires some training time, until all the new actions are clear. But since only 10 action cards come into play even this effort is limited.
All in all, everyone gets Dominion fan of the intrigue is not over, here come the new action cards much more interaction, variety and challenge into the game. Even those who would like Dominion to play with more than 4 players should access, since the plot and the basic game, a game is possible with up to 6 players. Much praise also goes to Michael Menzel, who has designed the new cover so that it connects directly to the original, and so almost too good for the players do not care. Dominion beginners but should rather start from the basic game because the action cards are easily understandable and straightforward, thus allowing easier access to the game.
